Hobomock Hoedowners Square Dance Club |
Dear Fellow Square Dancers,
I hope everyone is healthy, had a terrific summer, and is ready to start a brand new square dance season. We will be starting our new season on Wednesday September 7 at 7:30 PM at the First Congregational Church,12 Church St., Rockland (same day, time and place). I sincerely hope that active members will continue to realize the fun that square dancing brings and will continue dancing as always. I also hope that those of you who have dropped out for awhile will think about what they are missing and will re-connect, at least occasionally.
We are going to organize a class for new beginners starting Wednesday September 21, two weeks after the start of the new season. Please do your best to spread the word about our club. I think everyone agrees that square dancing is better with more dancers so let’s do our best to encourage new members. The class time for new dancers will be 7:30 to 8:30. Club members are welcome and encouraged to dance with the new class. Club dancing will be from 8:30 on.
Our E-board met last week to decide on a few necessary changes. They are as follows:
1. We will be raising our dance admission to $10 per person. This will enable us to remain solvent and meet our weekly obligations. I think that $10 is a very reasonable price to pay, considering the fun, the exercise, and the camaraderie that square dancing brings.
2. Our annual membership dues, which were waived last season, will be collected again this season, but have been lowered to $5 per person. They will be collected in March of next year.
3 All dancers must be vaccinated against Covid. Each dancer must sign in, stating that they have been vaccinated against Covid. The wearing of masks is optional.
4. We are going to start a split the pot drawing. We will continue to have this as long it is successful.
Please email, call or text me with your questions or concerns. Please visit our web site for additional information.
Hope to see you in a square.
